Landscapes of struggle (2017-2019)

As a protest against the indefinite preventive imprisonment of Catalan pro-independence politicians, the so-called CDR (Committees for the Defense of the Republic) undertook imaginative visual actions in the landscapes of towns and counties. Especially with yellow ribbons, display of separatist flags, claims of the Republic and crosses representing the death of democracy.

Under the slogan "Let's clean Catalonia" the opposition, under the acronym GDR (Grupos de Defensa y Resistencia) constituted by sympathizers of the unionist parties, organized the so-called "Operation Troy" to destroy any vestige of the visual protests of the pro-independence side claiming the neutrality that should rule in public space.

These evanescent passages, which often lasted a few hours, symbolized the protest of a part of the Catalan society against a very rigorous interpretation of the law. Finally, on June 23, 2021, the Catalan politicians were released from prison, amnestied by the Spanish Socialist Government of Premier Pedro Sánchez.
