DeBanyoles and Girona East (2023)

In my last two projects, sponsored by the Lluís Coromina Foundation and curated by its director, Ricard Planas, I have tried to give visibility to different groups by exhibiting their faces in public spaces, as a complement to the typical conventional display of photographs hung in a gallery.

The first fifteen images in this page correspond to the project "Girona Est," a collection of five marginalized neighborhoods located around the prosperous city of Girona. I photographed people of different ethnicities and nationalities who live together, making an effort every day not only to get ahead in an increasingly competitive world, but also to fight against the stigma of living in neighborhoods with a bad reputation. You can find more information on the website of Girona Est Foundation.

The remaining photographs belong to the project "De Banyoles." First, I documented Catholicism, Islam, and the Evangelical Church with my camera. Later on, I sought representatives of the sixty nationalities established in this small town and finally photographed people from different backgrounds who were born in Banyoles. Some of these portraits, mixed together, were also displayed on the main streets to remind us that in the 21st century, we live in a multicultural society from which we should derive great benefits since all cultures have positive contributions to make.
